Eurofuel

The European Heating Oil Association (Eurofuel) represents the national organisations that promote the use of heating oil for domestic heating in 10 European countries, including over 10 000 companies. Eurofuel is engaged in the promotion of existing and innovative techniques for heating oil and equipment, in the domestic market. In this way, our members are committed to ensuring the competitiveness and efficiency of heating with oil, while also reducing its environmental footprint. 

The objectives of Eurofuel are to:

Falsified medicines: European Parliament and EU governments reach agreement

GUE/NGL Group in the EP

Today, the EU governments gave the green light to reach a first reading agreement with the EP on the directive on falsified medicines. Marisa Matias (GUE/NGL) is the rapporteur of the European Parliament for this file.

In the European Union there is a recognizable increase of Falsified Medicines. Tomorrow, the Council is expected to formally adopt a directive on Falsified Medicines, based on a text agreed following negotiations with the European Parliament last week. Medicines are supposed to bear Safety Features, such as tamper evidence (e.g. holograms) which can identify individual packs of medicines (e.g. by a serial number).

European heads of state and government, at today's EU summit, agreed on a minimalist treaty change to allow the creation of a permanent stability mechanism. The Greens stressed that the permenet crisis mechanism will not be enough to get Europe out of the crisis. Greens/EFA co-president Rebecca Harms, who attended EU summit, said:

PES - Party of European Socialists

The Party of European Socialists (PES) has condemned the claims made at the conclusion of the European Council in Brussels today, that ‘EU leaders have done everything required to stabilise the Eurozone’.

Both the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, and European Council President Herman Von Rompuy made the claim in the concluding press conference.

A European Heritage Label to support cultural treasures

The European Parliament adopted today a report which calls for a new cultural initiative introducing the European Heritage Label (EHL).

The main objective of the report is transforming an existing intergovernmental scheme (involving 17 Member States plus Switzerland) into a European Union Initiative.
