Following today’s meeting in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, among G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to discuss possible debts treatments and supporting actions in favour of vulnerable countries in their fight against Covid-19, the S&D Group expresses their support. These are crucial to achieve SDGs, fight growing inequalities, and stop and reverse climate change.

S&D coordinator in the development committee, Udo Bullmann, said:

Özlem Alev Demirel, stellvertretende Vorsitzende im Ausschuss für Sicherheit und Verteidigung (SEDE), veröffentlicht heute eine neue Studie zu den steigenden Rüstungsexporten der Europäischen Union. In diesem Zusammenhang kritisiert Demirel auch die neue EU-Rüstungsexport-Datenbank, die deutsche Rüstungsexporte für 2019 mit 0 Euro angibt.

In a vote in the European Parliament today, S&D MEPs strengthened their call for a strong budget for the EU in the upcoming year. As the first of an unprecedented multi-annual financial framework, this budget must mirror citizens’ priorities: health, climate, youth and culture, while also upholding the social dimension.

Eider Gardiazabal MEP, S&D spokeswoman on budget, said:

London, UK - Downing Street is planning to impose a total ban of all online advertising of foods high in fat, sugar and/or salt (HFSS) which would include everything from promotional emails to Google adverts. HFSS products would be classed in scope of the sugar and calorie reduction programmes.

„Ich freue mich, dass die kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Armenien und Aserbaidschan beendet wurden. Zu viele Menschen sind in dem Konflikt um Bergkarabach schon auf beiden Seiten gestorben,“ kommentiert Özlem Alev Demirel, außenpolitische Sprecherin der LINKEN im Europaparlament und stellvertretende Vorsitzende im Ausschuss für Sicherheit und Verteidigung (SEDE), das auf Vermittlung von Russland zustande gekommene Abkommen.
