S&Ds back innovative instrument to help start-ups and SMEs access finance more easily

The Socialists and Democrats voted today in favour of crowdfunding - an innovative funding instrument- to enable start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the EU acquire necessary capital for projects. The S&Ds strongly support innovative business and funding ideas, especially for projects based on new technologies.

Enhanced transparency on the sustainability of investments and sustainability risks is key, say S&Ds

Yesterday, S&Ds led a vote in the economic and monetary affairs committee to increase disclosures on sustainable investments and sustainability risks across the EU. Under the new rules, investors and asset managers will be required to include environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations in their decision-making processes and carry out due diligence on their investment decisions. In addition to increasing the transparency of financial products, the report will also facilitate investments in sustainable projects across the Union.

Today in Brussels: S&Ds kick off EU election race with Frans Timmermans as lead candidate

Ahead of the European Parliament elections 2019, the S&D Group will hold an exchange with Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President European Commission, who has presented himself as PES Spitzenkandidat for European Commission President. Frans Timmermans is now the sole PES candidate following the decision of European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič to withdraw from the race and unite the party behind one candidate.

Clonbio Group Ltd shows strong performance in renewables and animal nutrition

The trading and financial performance of ClonBio Group Ltd, the parent company of Ethanol Europe and Pannonia Bio, for the year ended December 31st, 2017 was strong with Revenues increasing by 11 per cent to €278 million and Gross Profit up €14.3m or almost 23 per cent to €77.2m, the Group announced in Dublin today. Operating profit was €11.4m higher at €35.5m.

S&Ds launch their third Africa Week for a new partnership between Europe and Africa

S&D - Socialists and Democrats
Next week, Africa will be at the centre of the S&D Group and their partners’ activities, both from Europe and Africa. From the 5th to 9th November 2018, the S&D Group will organise their third ‘Africa Week’ with a five-day programme including political debates, cultural activities, seminars, art exhibitions and film screening, in Brussels, Modena and Mainz.
