Despite rapid approach of Brexit, UK SMEs are failing to go global

Parliament backs new rules to crack down on money laundering and organised crime

S&D - Socialists and Democrats
The European Parliament’s civil liberties, justice and home affairs committee, today backed two reports designed to make it harder for organised criminals and terrorists to access their illegally gained funds. The proposals will make it easier for authorities to freeze and confiscate illegally obtained assets across borders and crack down on money laundering. An agreement between the Council, Commission and Parliament was reached on the new laws last week.

Key committees back the deal reached by S&Ds on Energy Efficiency and Renewables

Today, the industry and environment committees backed the deal on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, negotiated by S&D MEPs Miroslav Poche and José Blanco respectively.
 
The final agreement with the EU Council sets a binding target of 32.5% improvement of energy efficiency by 2030, and a binding target of 32% share of renewable energy in the EU by 2030.
 

The EU approval system for pesticides must improve to better protect human health, say S&Ds

Today the environment committee voted on a report by S&D MEP Pavel Poc, which calls for a better approval system for pesticides in the EU.  
 
It is part of the scrutiny by the European Parliament on the implementation of the EU Regulation on the placing of plant protection products on the market. The recent controversy related to the renewal of the approval of the active substance glyphosate further highlighted that trust in the authorisation process has been seriously undermined.
