No more cheating with the mileage of second-hand cars, says S&D MEP Ismail Ertug

Manipulating the odometer to pretend that a vehicle has fewer kilometres than it really does is too easy and too cheap. That is how many Europeans end up being cheated when they buy a second-hand car.

Tomorrow the European Parliament will back a report by S&D MEP Ismail Ertug which aims to create legal, technical and operational barriers to make manipulations either impossible or so time consuming, difficult and expensive that it doesn't pay off.

This is why S&Ds advocate a circular economy, in which products and raw materials are re-used, repaired and recycled.

Commission proposal on the next EU budget lacks courage and strategy. EU citizens’ expectations are not met, says S&D Group

After the European Parliament adopted, by an overwhelming majority, the report on the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework and own resources, the S&D Group has expressed its disappointment with the proposal of the European Commission which plays a shell game with figures and lacks courage and long-term vision.

The S&D’s negotiator for post 2020 MFF, Isabelle Thomas, said:

S&Ds: EU agricultural policy must remain truly common. Re-nationalisation should be avoided at all

S&Ds: “Italy shows us that it is high time for a new Europe”

Against the backdrop of the current political situation in Italy and on the occasion of a visit in Milan on Thursday, S&D Group leader Udo Bullmann urgently calls for a reform of Europe and a strengthened Eurozone.
